The African Media Initiative in partnership with The Rockefeller Foundation will host a two-day training workshop on Resilience Reporting in the lead-up to the 2015 African Media Leaders Forum. The training will take place on 9 -10 November, 2015 at the Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.
We invite applications from professional journalists working at newspapers, television stations, radio stations and online news outlets, and bloggers with a verifiable following. If you are a journalist at a media organization, you will need approval from your editor in order to attend the training.
The fully sponsored training will focus on “Resilience Reporting: Bridging the Knowledge Gap.” Resilience is the capacity of individuals, communities, organizations and systems to survive, adapt and grow in the face of shocks and stresses, and even transform when conditions require it. Resilience is an economic development lever that must be observed so that societies can make the most out of any unexpected situation, and plan better for the predictable ones. It is important for the media to comprehend what resilience entails and how to communicate it in a simple, straightforward and compelling manner.
If you are interested in participating, or would like to nominate another journalist, please complete and return to us the information requested below.
Participation is on a first-come first-served basis; nomination will close when the 30 pax quota is reached.
