Press Release
Coaches in the Nationwide League One (NLO) are to be trained and certified by Coerver Coaching from September 11 – 17 in Abuja.
The Youth Diploma 1 professional development course to be held at the FIFA goal project, Abuja, is facilitated by Search and Groom youth for development center, in association with the Nationwide League One (NLO) and the Technical department of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
In a statement released by the Chief Operating Officer of the NLO, Mr. Shola Ogunnowo, the board of Nationwide League One directed the secretariat to commence preparation for the Coerver Coaching course for all Nationwide League One clubs coaches, in fulfillment of its promise to do so as announced during the annual general meeting held in Abuja early this year.
Mr. Ogunnowo revealed that the NLO made the decision in furtherance of its objective to use the NLO as a supply chain to produce highly skillful future football stars for Nigerian football.
In his words: “We did a thorough job, researching and establishing the fact that this is a professional development course endorsed and approved by FIFA for youth club football, established in 50 countries with a reputation for training coaches in the last thirty- three (33) years of existence. In conjunction with the Technical Department of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), we were left with no choice than to embrace Coerver Coaching. This is our best chance to align forces with an institution that will help build the capacity of our grassroots and development coaches.”
He thanked Mr. Yomi Kuku, Executive Director of Search and Groom youth for development centre and facilitators of Coerver Coaching in Nigeria, for his belief in the NLO as a reliable organization.
In his response, Mr. Yomi Kuku said working with such a massive number of clubs comes with a huge responsibility, promising to match up with the challenge beyond the period of the training course. “We are all in this commitment to improve the standard of football in Nigeria, we will not shirk in our responsibility,” he said.
Meanwhile, registration has opened with numerous clubs in the Nationwide League One (NLO) already indicating interest in sending coaches to attend the Coerver Coaching Youth Diploma 1 course.
The deadline for registration is August 25, 2017.
