The Berlin School of Creative Leadership has begun a partnership with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, to award a full-tuition scholarship to our Executive MBA program starting March 2016. We are teaming up to foster a world-changing project and cutting-edge industry research – conducted by an executive from a Nigerian creative industry company.
The inaugural Global Health Communication Scholarship to the Berlin School would offer a leading creative industry executive a chance to increase their leadership skills while pursuing answers to a key question facing Gavi and its partners: how to increase vaccination coverage and equity, overcome barriers and increase children’s coverage with vaccination by helping to foster Vaccination Demand from care givers.
The scholarship winner would combine attending the Berlin School’s unique, custom Executive MBA program with high-level interactions within Gavi to build a ground-breaking project that generates new thinking, new tools and new models and methods. The winner will work with Gavi to develop a holistic communication strategy, plan and creative concept/ tool-box to increase Demand Generation at the local level. Our goal is to successfully plan a pilot project whereby the creative media and marketing industries can be brought together to communicate the need for action, as well as the benefits of preventive vaccination efforts like those led by Gavi.
This project, to be realized in Nigeria, a country that is crucial to Gavi’s efforts, will hopefully form a template for other such strategic communication program approaches in other countries with low immunization coverage that are supported by Gavi and other global health organizations. Applications are due by Nov. 16, 2015.
Scope of the Scholarship – Applicant Obligations
The scholarship winner will be awarded a full-tuition scholarship to the Executive MBA program in Creative Leadership at the Berlin School. This is a global part-time program for senior executives in the creative industries. The program’s 5 modules take place in Berlin, the USA & Asia, and each module lasts two weeks. The modules can be completed in 1 to 2 years; participants also write and defend an individual master’s thesis to complete the program and earn the MBA.
In addition to the normal demands of the EMBA program, the winner will work individually with Gavi to devise, execute and lead a platform, forum, communication strategy or other system by which the Nigerian creative industry can be united and mobilized for social good. In this case, the cause will be to change hearts and minds in Nigeria in regards to the efficacy and acceptance of vaccinations by care givers.
This project – working with Gavi to build a communications template — is not the same as the master’s thesis for the Berlin School, and the winner may choose to do their thesis project on another subject. However, it is hoped that the Global Health Communication project and its impact could form the basis for Berlin School master’s thesis research too.
