Title: My Tiny Thoughts
Author: Seth Oyinloye
Reviewer: Chido Onumah
Pages: 221; Publisher: Sowers Publishing House, Abuja
Seth Oyinloye’s My Tiny Thoughts is a small book with very few words. So, my review will be very short. But the size of the book or the length of my review has very little to do with the quality of the book. For those who thought they had outgrown learning by pictures, My Tiny Thoughts offers a refreshing new angle to pictorial books.
Colourful, brilliant, and persuasive, My Tiny Thoughts, offers readers well-crafted nuggets of wisdom that are beneficial for everyone: young, old, male, female, rich, poor, powerful, weak, etc. It is impossible to finish reading this book and not be captivated by the life-changing ideas it reveals. The uniqueness of the book is the balance it creates that challenges our everyday beliefs and the potential it has in helping us reset our thinking especially in these challenging times.
The beauty and strength of this book is that it is handy and can be read anywhere: at the breakfast table; it can be read while standing on a queue or even while watching television. You can read from the beginning, the middle or the end without missing anything. In one breadth, it looks like a collection of poetry; in another, you get the impression that you are reading a book of politics and ideology.
In this small book, you will find passages that reflect science, philosophy, politics, economics, psychology and many other areas of knowledge. In all, it is presented in simple everyday English to inspire, educate and help readers re-evaluate their opinions on critical matters of human survival and progress.
There is a saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. Add the invaluable words of Seth Oyinloye and you would have created a symphony that will endure for ages. This is not your run-of-the-mill motivational book of quotes. What the writer has achieved from his unique style is to stimulate the thought process of the reader and make the reader feel varying types of emotions as he or she connects one page or section to the other.
Divided into five sections: Vision; Sowing; Character; Leadership; and Wealth, which can read separately or together, My Tiny Thoughts, will help stimulate your thoughts and offers you fresh and illuminating perspectives for everyday living.
The thoughts are deep; the writing, sometimes witty and provocative, is timeless I have read this book and I certainly will read it again. And as Dr. Mike Omotosho admonished in the foreword, “Set aside time to absorb each page of Seth’s book as a blueprint to renew your thoughts…on matters ranging from vision to leadership because they are the ultimate deciders of your wealth on earth.”
