With the first edition of Otown Gist Personality of the Year [POTY] Awards being a huge success in 2013, the organizers have rolled out plans for the second edition of the award which was one won by Deejay Saquo last year.
Deejay Saquo gained more votes than LMG, Acharaman, Floxy and Hot 99.9 FM Owerri presenter cum producer, Sammy Davis, clinching the award after winning DJ of the Year at the first edition of E-Celebrity Awards earlier in 2013. According to the CEO of Otown Gist Entertainment, Mr Chinedu Hardy Nwadike, there is need to improve on the success of the 2013 and the best way to do that was to introduce more categories.
“Last year it was just one award contested by 5 people but this year we are making it bigger with 5 more categories and one subcategory.
This is not like the kind of award where people are nominated by the organizers, but one where the fans have their say at the end of the day. They nominate the contestants and if they [nominees] meet our requirements, they are on.
Personality of the year is not just for everyone, it is for people who have done something for themselves and the public; in this case, they are mostly people with appearances on www.otowngist.com” He said.
The categories are:
Otown Gist Personality of the Year, Artiste Category, Male
Otown Gist Personality of the Year, Artiste Category, Female
Otown Gist Personality of the Year, Producer Category
Otown Gist Personality of the Year, Disk Jockey [DJ] Category
Otown Gist Personality of the Year, Comedian Category
Otown Gist Personality of the Year, On Air Personality [OAP, TV & Radio] Category
Otown Gist Personality of the Year, Politician Category
The general public are urged to send in their nominations via email or sms to email@example.com or 08136723796 respectively, stating the name of the person and the category.
Nominees must be residents of Imo State and must have made great impacts in their various field of work that will qualify them for any category.
Nominations ends by October 15, 2014.
