Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Lamorde has reiterated the importance of cooperation in the efforts to stamp out corruption from West Africa. The EFCC boss who spoke through the Secretary to the Commission, Adegboyega Aremo, at the closing ceremony of the maiden training programme of National Anti Corruption Institutions in West Africa, NACIWA, which held at the EFCC Academy, Karu, Abuja October 9, 2015 emphasized the need for the deepening of the emerging synergy among the countries of the region.
He assured that the EFCC will continue to lead the battle on corruption from the front.
Kpade Koffi Gbekande, one of the course participants, commended the EFCC and the Nigerian Government for the hospitality extended to the foreign delegates during their two week stay at the EFCC Academy.
“When we arrived on the 28th of September, 2015, the Secretary to the Federal Government and the others in their speeches wished us a wonderful stay. Though our time was short, we enjoyed it and we learnt so many things…We learn to be disciplined in our work, and to share brotherly love even while having our dinner and we have formed a network of strong and confident instructors ; no matter the barrier of distance, the knowledge and experiences gathered here will be shared. The knowledge we have aquired here will help ECOWAS strengthen its fight against corruption”, he said
“We all know that goodbyes are always painful, but as we return, each and everyone of us to our countries, we believe in the vision of NACIWA and especially the director Mr Issoufou Boureima and know that this network will continue to fight corruption and to give back to our people and put smiles on the lips of all Africans”, he added.
The Commandant of the EFCC Academy, Ayo Olowonihi, in his vote of thanks commended the participants for being exceptional in their response to training. He noted that with the successful conclusion of the programme, a vision of many years has become a reality.
