Amidst the widespread and unprecedentedly brutal forced evictions being visited on the informal housing (slums) across Lagos, Nigerian’s biggest commercial city by the state government (sometimes in direct violation of court orders), and inhuman displacement of millions of the urban poor, the biggest victims are children.
Besides the obvious physical displacements, loss of educational opportunities, crushed potentials and further impoverishment, the toll on their psyche and danger to their futures are inestimable.
This short documentary tries to capture the agony, uncertainty arising from the violence visited on these kids whose only crime is being born poor in a ‘mega city’. Worse still, many of these kids never lived to witness this sad story told– They died, CRUSHED by the bulldozers of a government that’s meant to protect them!
