WORLD CANCER DAY is commemorated globally by millions of people with cancer awareness walk, fund-raising and other activities. In 2015, we organized World Cancer Day events in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health with high-level oncologists, two (2) female breast cancer survivors and one male breast cancer survivor to discuss what we already know about cancer and what we can do to find cure while reducing late detection of cancer.
Our cancer awareness events were led by celebrities, such as Korede Bello, Ejike Asiegbu, Chidinma Ekile “Miss Kedike” Oge Okoye, etc. at Sheraton Abuja and Lagos.
This year’s World Cancer Day 2016 Walk, Race & Cycle against cancer will hold on Saturday, 6th February, 2016, 7:00am at the Sheraton Abuja Hotel. The walk will start from Sheraton Hotel Abuja through Sani Abacha Way, Wuse Market Road and back to Sheraton through Herbert Macaulay Way.
Prof. Isaac F. Adewole, the Honourable Minister of Health is the Special Guest of Honour, Hon. Muhammed Usman, Deputy House Committee Chairman on Health Services, House of Representatives is the Co-Special Guest of Honor.
Outstanding Nigerian celebrities such as: Chidinma “Miss Kedike”, Toke Makinwa, and Annie Idibia are the Star Guests.
There would also be a World Cancer Day Commemoration Event on Thur. 4th Feb., 10pm, Wazobia Hall, Sheraton Abuja Hotel.

Ebigbo, Board Chair, Project PINK BLUE-Health & Psychological Trust Centre; Prof. Ifeoma Okoye, President International Cancer Week; Dr. Bello Abubakar, Chief Consultant, National Hospital Abuja; Dr. M.O. Nwaneri, Medical Oncologist, St. Nichola Hospital; and Dr. Oby Emelummadu, Associate Professor/Chief Consultant Community Health Physician to discuss how “We Can, I Can Phase-out Late Detection of Cancer”.
There would also be the Premiere of a Breast Cancer Documentary “Victors & Victim”, Fashion Against Cancer, a Fundraising event on Sunday 14th February, 2016, Sheraton Abuja Hotel. The event is platforms to raise funds for Ms. Comfort Oyayi Daniel, a 34 years old single lady who was diagnosed of breast cancer, she already done her mastectomy (breast removal), but she needs funds to start her chemotherapy.
