I hereby invite you specially to the award presentation ceremony of the 2014 Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting which holds on Tuesday 9 December, 2014 by 5pm at the NECA Building, Plot A2, Hakeem Balogun Street, Agidingbi, (opposite Afrika Shrine), Ikeja Lagos.
The award programme rewards and honours annually the works of Nigerian journalists who demonstrate ethical journalistic courage, individual creativity and public benefit in their report on public or corporate corruption, human rights violation, or on the failure of regulatory agencies in the print, radio, television, photo, online, climate change, health, local government, sports and editorial cartoon categories.
This year will also see the WSCIJ in partnership with the Netherlands Embassy give an award to the best work highlighting the plight of girls and women in the report women category as well as present the VinMartin Ilo grant for the best work in the broadcast category.
Also, in keeping with our tradition, two honorary awards; a ‘Lifetime Award for Journalistic Excellence’ reserved for a veteran journalist and the ‘anti-corruption defender award’ in honour of an organisation or individual noted for public stance against corruption will be presented at the event.
I look forward, enthusiastically, to your presence as we unveil the Nigerian investigative journalist of the year, honorary award recipients, category winners and runners-up at this noble occasion.
Sincerely,
Motunrayo Alaka
Centre Coordinator
Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ)
