To advance the scholarly study and practice of communication by promoting and facilitating the pursuit of excellence in academic research and professional practice in Nigeria.
Mission
ACSPN aims to support the process of shaping communication scholarship, training and practice in Nigeria whilst complementing the work of other bodies with similar aims and building on the potentials of the field of communication in Nigeria, conscious of the needs of the country for critical inputs from communication scholars and professionals to shape a future that will promote growth and development.
Objectives
To develop programmes of high quality scholarly research, publication and knowledge exchange within ACSPN and between ACSPN and organisations with similar aims globally.
To promote evidence-based communication practice in Nigeria.
To promote a wider public interest in, and visibility of, the theories, methods, findings, and applications generated within the context of communication practice in Nigeria.
To seek to improve media and communication research, policy, training and practice, especially from national and interdisciplinary perspective.
To facilitate the exchange of information on conditions that would improve the quality of communication research, training and practice in Nigeria.
To promote dialogue between ACSPN and national and international academic institutions and professional associations.
To use the mobility of academic staff, practitioners and students more efficiently to support academic and training programmes.
To promote co-operation between academic institutions of higher learning in the general field of communication studies and the world of business.
To facilitate access to communication resources about the educational, research and cultural policies of different countries.
To initiate projects such as competitions, exhibitions and awards to promote innovative work in communication and media.
To facilitate through publications the dissemination of scholarly research and best practices and promote the visibility of the Association and its members.
