Executive Director of Search and Groom and Coerver Coaching representative in Nigeria, Mr. Yomi Kuku, has applauded Nigeria National League side Remo Stars Football Club for their impressive youth programme.
Kuku who was on a tour of the Ogun State based club as a follow up exercise to the last Coerver Coaching Course programme which had the Club’s Director of Youth Department, Daniel Ogunmodede, as one of the participants posited that the club is a model for global best practice in the country.
“I am impressed with the pitch and the environment here and the club’s aspiration aligns with our vision to train youth football coaches and monitor their progress. With what I have seen here today, Remo Stars FC is on the right path with their youth development programme”.
He also observed the Club’s U-17 team training session coordinated by the Coerver certified Daniel Ogunmodede and his assistants who took the team through some Coerver drills on a lush green grass pitch.
After the team’s training for the day, the Coerver official had a motivational talk with the players who were thrilled to hear about Coerver produced players like Gareth Bale, Arjen Robben, Daniel Sturridge amongst a few who had excelled in the round leather game.
Daniel Ogunmodede whose role is to develop and execute the Club’s youth programme was delighted to have the Coerver representative around as it shows the organization was genuinely interested in looking out for their product.
“As a coach who started out early in life, I have seen a lot to be modest and I know that in Nigeria we need to do more about our youth programmes but the impact of the Coerver training I had cannot be underestimated, their methodologies have inspired me to seek more knowledge and that is why I will like to attend more of their programmes in the future”.
Ogunmodede also led Kuku to the Club’s U-13 and U-15 teams training sessions later in the day where enthusiastic players who are mainly primary and junior secondary students were taking through the Coerver drills.
Some other key officials of the club like the secretary, team manager and the media officer were not left out of the parley with the Coerver official as they all shared insights in a bid to position the club for the challenges of modern day football club administration.
This visit to Remo Stars Football Club is the first among visits the Coerver representative in the country is expected to embark on as part of what is meant to be assessment tours of Coerver certified coaches in their clubs.
