Nkoyo Toyo is a long-standing feminist and activist for the rights of women and girls. She trained as a lawyer and governance expert and has been Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and the Permanent Representative to African Union.
A one-time member of the House of Representatives, Amb Toyo is a leading voice for women’s political inclusion in Nigeria. For her passion and work in advancing the status of women in Nigerian public life, Nkoyo was granted the Chevening Scholarship to study at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex, where she received a Master’s in Governance in 2001. From 2020 to 2021, she received a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
